How Powerful Are Your Goals?
Here’s a pretty simple, yet powerful tip as you set new your sights on the New Year: create goals that are actionable. In other words, have your goal be within your power to complete.
Let me illustrate this with 2 examples:
Get 6 new clients this month – This is actually an objective, rather than an action goal. The problem with it as a goal is that you don’t have complete control over whether it can happen. You can’t snap your fingers and have 6 clients show up. Yes, your marketing and your bubbly personality have an impact on your success, but there are lots of other factors in play besides you that can decide whether this happens or not. There’s the weather, the call from the in-laws that pisses off your prospective client, the economy. Any number of possible scenarios that hopefully won’t happen, but could still impact whether you get those clients.
On the other hand, how’s this one for being in your power to complete?
Make 10 phone calls today to potential clients – It is totally up to you whether you pick up that phone and dial.
If you have found yourself with objectives rather than action goals, look for the action or actions you need to complete the objective. This makes the objectives and goals so much more effective and powerful.

Excellent suggestion to make goal an action! “I will do ____”, helps me get started and gains more momentum as I do it. Change one thing and everything will change. Thanks for the info!
